Weight Loss Foods: Is Low-Fat or No-Fat Really Healthy For Us?

Weight problems are a growing epidemic in the United States, many people are experiencing obesity and weight problems. These are real concerns, because carrying around the extra weight can be dangerous for health and wellness.

Many people turn to a low-fat or no-fat diet in order to try to lose weight, but is this really the best way to melt away the pounds? No! In fact, the body needs at least a little bit of fat in order to be healthy and well.

The important thing to remember is that you should limit your fat intake to a reasonable level, and also focus your eating around healthy sources of fat. Some of the healthiest fat sources come from plant based foods, such as: extra virgin olive oil, extra virgin coconut oil, avocados, nuts and seeds.

Eating these sources of fats is much healthier than focusing on the highly refined oils that you can buy at the grocery store. Many of those oils are subjected to very high heats when they are processed, which means that they are not good for your health.

One of the main problems with "low-fat" or "fat-free" products at the grocery store lies in the fact that these foods are often filled with chemicals or other unhealthy ingredients in order to make them taste good. Also, many of them have added sugars and higher levels of sodium, which can be damaging to your health.

If you are trying to lose weight, be smart about your fat intake. Even though you are eating healthier sources of fat, it does not mean that you can eat as much as you want. Eat a little bit of health fats every day, but be sure that it is just supplementing your whole foods eating plan (instead of being the focus of your eating plan).
